"Omeros" Essay

"Ribcages radiated like fronds from a palm branch". That is the weirdest choice of words ever. But the choice of words have many meanings in this poem. This poem has great vocabulary like "These shadows are reprinted on the white sands of antipodal coasts". It deals with nature by connecting it with the different meanings in the poem for instance " For the silver coins multiplying on the gold horizon".

The main thing i like about the poem "Omeros" is the vocabulary. Some words are easy. Other words are mysterious and weird. "Ribcages radiated like fronds from a palm branch". Other words are religous.

Secondly I like the way they use nature in the poem. They talk about trees and burnt branches. They also talk about seeds and rivers. " Seed in our stomachs." " We watched as the river gods changed from snakes into currents."

Last is the meaning of the poem. They are saying sorrow will finally end. When the people left no matter where they go no what they do you will always be the sane color you were when you left. " We were the color of shadows when we came down with tinkling leg irons to join chains of the scay for the silver coins multiplying on the gold horizon and these shadows were reprinted now on the white sands of antipodal coasts.

In the end the poem ends like a walk through someones imagination. It makes you think about nature, vocab, and the different meanings in the poem in ways that you never thought you would. Nature for instance"River gods changed from snakes into currents". Vocab for example" We were the color of shadows when we came down with tinkling leg irons to join chains of the scay for the silver coins multiplying on the gold horizon and these shadows were reprinted now on the white sands of antipodal coasts.
